The night sect luminary and malefic are so entwined, yet rarely do we discuss their relationship. They are primal. Core. Instinctual. Synastry involving them is raw, explosive, emotional.The core needs to nourish and defend ourselves. To live. To be protected and cared for. To seek out that which we desire or need.

The Moon and Mars can have a lovely supportive nature towards each other, despite their differences. At their best, the Moon gives purpose to Mars - something to defend in ourselves - and Mars provides the wherewithal to meet our needs. The gumption. The effort required to keep our incarnate flesh alive. The beating heart muscle to move the water of our life through our veins.

In another light, they are the monstrous mother and her offspring - mother of monsters. She who nurtures wolves and bears. Again, I am returned to Echidna, Angrboda, Tiamat, Alkaid. There is great power in that archetype, those spirits both celestial and terrestrial. We are wise to heed, respect, and learn from them - both to find them in ourselves and to decenter the human from the narrative and gain perspective and empathy.
