Jonathan Thames

Hello. I am Jonathan, a devotee of the Moon and Saturn, disciple of Thoth, a child of Venus, and in service to the mother of us all, Gaia.

My practice is devotional and informed by ancient and modern sources. It reflects my lived experience that the gods are real, that everything is imbued with a spirit, and that the best way to do good and to do well is to interact with respect. I work with the gods, planets, stars, my human ancestors, plants, and fellow animals.

MY BACKGROUND

I grew up in a Christian family but left that faith after high school through a long and torturous process. Then, in 2010, while standing on a balcony in the middle of Bangkok, I became aware of the breeze on my face. Suddenly, and without any preamble, I realized that one spiritual, intuitive truth in my life had always been the elements - water, earth, air, and fire - and I felt called. So began my life as a pagan.

My worldview since then has been shaped by the neopagan and New Age movements, ancient philosophy, Heathenry, modern psychoanalytic disciplines, and the religions and cults of antiquity. Over the years, I have called myself a green witch, pagan, neopagan, pantheist, theurgist, tarot reader, astrologer, polytheist, animist, etc. These days, I tend to keep it simple and just call myself a druid as I am a practicing member and priest-in-training of the Ancient Order of Druids in America (AODA) / Gnostic Celtic Church.

I guide and I help, I interpret and I teach. Every day I learn more from the worlds around me, both visible and invisible. Every day I am challenged to live a more fully connected life here on Earth.
